Eurosol and the Red Cross in Almería sign an agreement to boost the employability of people in vulnerable situations

The fruit and vegetable company is incorporating the Red Cross Employment Plan for staff recruitment and will collaborate on training, guidance and awareness-raising actions on equal opportunities in access to work.

Eurosol and the Spanish Red Cross in Almería have signed a collaboration agreement that has made it possible to join forces to improve the employability of people in vulnerable situations. The agreement was signed by Mari Carmen Cano, Eurosol’s Managing Director, and Eva Pérez, Provincial Head of the Red Cross Employment Area in Almería, accompanied by area technicians Concha Vargas and Victoria Lumaca.

A framework for collaboration on labour inclusion

Through this agreement, Eurosol has established a joint working framework with the Red Cross, making it possible to incorporate the organisation’s Employment Plan as a support resource in staff selection processes. In addition, the company has agreed to collaborate on training, guidance and awareness-raising actions aimed at improving job opportunities for those who have faced greater difficulties accessing the labour market.

Eurosol’s view of employment as a tool for inclusion

At the signing, Eurosol’s Managing Director, Mari Carmen Cano, highlighted that “Almería’s agriculture has demonstrated its ability to create opportunities and to integrate very diverse people”. In this regard, she stressed that the agreement “has been a further step in Eurosol’s social commitment and in our willingness to open the company’s doors to those who have it hardest, because we believe that decent work is the best tool for inclusion”. Cano added that this collaboration “has been carried out hand in hand with an organisation with the experience, closeness and values of the Red Cross, with whom we share the same vision of people’s dignity and the social role of companies”.

For her part, the Provincial Head of the Red Cross Employment Area, Eva Pérez, praised Eurosol’s involvement and recalled that “Red Cross employment programmes have only achieved their purpose when companies have trusted the talent of the people we support and have committed to equal opportunities”. Pérez noted that the agri-food sector “has been strategic in the province of Almería due to its stability and its ability to offer real integration opportunities to very diverse profiles”, and highlighted that agreements like this “have made it possible to turn training and support into real employment”.

Partnerships for labour market integration

Strategic pillars and actions of the agreement

This agreement has been framed within the Red Cross Employment Plan, through its projects “Corporate Social Challenge: Partnerships for Labour Market Integration”, “Activating Employ-ability Plus” and “Go Accelerators”, which have promoted collaboration between the business community and the organisation to encourage the hiring of people in vulnerable situations. These initiatives have helped strengthen the involvement of companies committed to equal opportunities and to foster a more inclusive labour market, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

A collaboration that includes different lines of action, including:

  • The participation of Eurosol staff in career guidance sessions and “Get to Know Us” information days, where the reality of the fruit and vegetable sector and the most in-demand profiles have been presented.
  • The organisation of visits to the company’s facilities as part of the initiative “A day at the company / A day in the trade”.
  • Collaboration in sector-related training programmes through mentoring and non-work placements.
  • Joint participation in awareness-raising campaigns aimed at reducing the gaps that hinder access to employment.

The agreement had an initial term of one year, extendable up to four, and provided for the creation of a joint monitoring committee responsible for coordinating actions and evaluating results. In this way, both entities have strengthened their commitment to inclusive employment and social responsibility in the area.

Both the Red Cross and Eurosol agreed that this agreement represents an example of effective collaboration between the business community and social organisations, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to decent work, gender equality and the reduction of inequalities.
